About Paul Blackley

I’m Paul Blackley, a photographer based on the Isle of Wight. My journey began in press photography, but my passion was first sparked by capturing wildlife and surfing — two unpredictable, high-energy subjects that taught me to work instinctively and look for moments of raw beauty and emotion.
Over the years, that early interest evolved into a deep commitment to photographing life in all its forms — from the power of the sea and the spirit of wildlife to the energy of live events and the stories of people.
I’m especially known for my surf photography, which has been featured in local exhibitions celebrating the Isle of Wight’s rich surfing culture.
My work has been published nationally and internationally in magazines covering surfing, wildlife, and sailing, and has appeared in all the major UK newspapers.
Whether I’m shooting on the shoreline, at a live event, or out in the wild, my goal is always the same: to capture authentic moments that reflect the unique character of the Isle of Wight and beyond.
Through my lens, I strive to tell stories with clarity, creativity, and a deep connection to place.
